Brand Designer

Me and my Wacom have been inseparable. It’s spans over +17 years and brought me to leading design teams at DDB & Tribal in Amsterdam to working as an Executive Creative Director at Ueno, San Francisco. During these years I touched international projects for clients such as Adidas, Red Bull and Oculus, but also helped Silicon valley startups find their way to a digital presence. The work also didn’t go unnoticed by my peers and I got a few accolades under my belt such as D&AD Pencils, Site of the Year at FWA, and wins at Cannes, Eurobest, Lovies and One Show. Since 2018 I work as a freelance (Studio Nolie) designer for agencies and clients directly focussing on Digital Branding and Marketing. To keep up with his passion for digital design he has been judging for TheFWA since 2011.

What kinds of projects are you looking for?

I have three types of clients: 1. The startup that has nothing. Help we need something. We want to launch our first marketing site with a fresh design, identity and a basic set of branding so our internal team has some direction. 2. A company that needs a rebrand. Help our brand has been designed by me (founder) or the developer picked a typeface. We know what we want to say, but we want to make it look good. Can you redesign our Marketing site and give us some pointers how this new look&feel can influence our digital product or other touchpoints. 3. The agency. Help! We need someone that takes the lead in design and make it come to life. This can be a pitch, Art-Direction/design for a campaign or digital product. One thing I don’t do: Product design. I can provide key screens of a digital product to show how brand can influence it, but I’m not someone to deep dive into flows and develop full blown design systems.

What makes your work unique?

I like to take on projects that are far away from what I've done before. This way I can challenge myself and completely immerse myself into the unknown.

What does your creative process look like?

No black box. Follow my process and progress daily on Figma and communicate daily. This way we know we are on the right path of success and there are no surprises. It's teamwork and both sides are invested in making the outcome great.
